COVID raised many legal challenges to mask mandates and other legal restrictions, and many of those objections were religious. But how do we define religion? The time is ripe for the Supreme Court to clarify the meaning of “religion” for free exercise purposes—specifically, to clarify whether it covers purely individualistic spiritual pursuits. [1]
