The Vatican’s new overseer of doctrine is a kissing expert

It’s well known that the new head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Víctor Manuel Fernández, wrote a book advising couples to kiss during sexual intercourse. Less well known is that in 2009, while Archbishop of Buenos Aires, the future Pope Francis attempted to appoint Fernández rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, but Vatican officials expressed concerns about the orthodoxy of his scholarship, and it was two years before his appointment was approved.
