How St. Ignatius of Loyola became the patron saint of soldiers

Iñigo López de Oñaz y Loyola, born into a noble Basque family, was meant for the life of a warrior. War wounds led to a change in his life, and he came to realize that all of his exploits seeking earthly glory were vain attempts to fill a void that could only truly be filled by God.
