Frances Xavier Cabrini was an intrepid traveler who would eventually make 24 transatlantic crossings to establish her foundation, hospitals and orphanages, yet she was not a fan of ocean voyages since she had almost drowned as a youngster. On one of those trips, she was scheduled to stop in England, and her sisters there had booked her return to New York on the ill-fated RMS Titanic. Providentially, she decided to skip England and return to the U.S. from Naples. [1]
