Support for The Catholic Thing

May 21, 2018

Friends:

A special request: if you haven’t already done so, please consider making a contribution to our 10th Anniversary Fund Drive. It’s hard to believe that it will be ten years next week, which means you only have a few days to take part. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or are a recent addition to the flock, I have to ask you to think deeply about what you get from The Catholic Thing daily. And then do something.

Maybe it will help if I share with you some of the messages that other readers have sent along with their contributions:

“I would have no accurate analysis of what is actually happening in the Church without the contributions of the amazing writers of The Catholic Thing! I also forward to friends and family.”

“God bless you and may He help you to continue your mission of enlightening the world with the truth. The world needs it more than it knows.”

“Because of you, there is some hope that we (the Church and the Western Society) are not going collectively totally insane. Thank you.”

And perhaps most surprisingly: “This Anglican appreciates The Catholic Thing.”

We’re Catholic at The Catholic Thing and are collectively wary about bragging – pride being the worse of the Seven Deadly Sins. We haven’t saved the world and can’t, but we believe it’s simply true that we’ve done solid work, as good work as we can provide, every day for the past decade.

Several people have sent messages saying they wish they could give more, but their circumstances don’t permit. There’s no need to apologize – we’re grateful for any level of support, from the large gifts to the small (one reader sent me a five-dollar bill and two holy cards, which I appreciate).

But if you want this column series to continue, we need one last push to get us over the goal line. We’re close now. Help us get there, for all our sakes.
