Chaz Bono compared his transgenderism to a cleft palate and drew scorching fire from Stephen Ira. Who’s Stephen Ira? None other than Warren Beatty and Annette Bening’s eighteen-year-old daughter Kathryn, who now lives as a man at Sarah Lawrence College.
Chaz told ABC news, “I think of it as hormones, you know, went in the brain but not in the body, and that’s all being transgender is. It’s just that the sex of your body and gender of your brain don’t match up. For 99 percent of people, those things are in alignment. For transgender people, they’re mismatched. That’s all it is. It’s not complicated, its not neurosis. It’s a mix-up. It’s a birth defect, like a cleft palate.”
In the transgender world, however, Bono is an out and out troglodyte. Poor girl, he thought he was on the far frontiers. But no, and Kathryn Beatty (né Stephen Ira) steps in to bitch-slap the 300-pounder.
Kathryn Beatty, a really sweet looking young girl, who reminds you awful lot of her aunt Shirley MacLaine circa 1963, went off to college and announced she was a “trans man.” This is where it gets complicated.
She was born with female parts but has come to self-identify as a man, yet she still wants to be with men just as if she was still a girl. Does that mean she’s a trans man or a trans gay man or a gay trans man? Maybe she’s just a girl who likes to wear jeans and boots. Honestly, I don’t know.
Anyway poor Warren’s daffy daughter took great umbrage at Sonny and Cher’s daffy daughter on a blog called SuperMattachine, “Chaz is erasing the experience of trans men who don’t need top surgery. He’s reinforcing this cissexist idea that having breasts that you intend to keep equals being a woman, which we know from experiences of many non-op, non-binary and intersex people is just not true.”
Beatty-Ira goes on to say, “I am a binary trans man, and I do not want Chaz, another binary trans man, representing me and simultaneously mistreating my non-binary comrades in this way.”
Let’s turn to the glossary for a moment. A guy named Asher who, according to his blog “Transanarchism” is becoming a fixture in the San Francisco kink community, defines the terms. “Cisgender” refers to those who have no problem accepting the gender they were assigned at birth, generally by the delivery room team and then reinforced by Mom and Dad and society. That would be almost all of us.
And then there is “cissexist,” which refers to those who think cisgender is the only or at least the superior way to go.
Cissupremmacist refers to. . .ok, you get that.
The former Chastity Bono
Transgender refers to all those who do not accept the genders assigned to them at birth. According to Asher, “We know that there is a different way, a way of autonomy, self-creation, and self-definition, and that this is the way we must follow. . . .”
“Binary” refers to those who can accept being either man or woman, even if it is the opposite of what they were assigned at birth. Asher says, “I am a man who was assigned to live as a woman, therefore I am a trans man. My father is a man who was assigned to live as a man; therefore he is a cis man. Both of us are binary identified, both men, even though he is cis and I am trans.”
Asher also defines the non-binary: “There are many trans people who are neither male or female. They cannot be categorized as ‘either/or.’ These people may use terms for themselves like genderqueer, androgynous, agender, or neutrois. They often use gender-neutral pronouns such as ‘ze/hir/hirs’ or ‘they/them/their/theirs.’ They can be both male and female, or none of the above, multi-gender, genderless, or something else entirely.”
I’m exhausted just reading this. Can you imagine living your life this way? They say cissupremacy includes all those cis people who believe they have not made a choice in gender but just “are” men or women. Well, that’s certainly less tiring.
We can sympathize with those who suffer from these conflicted feelings, especially if they don’t want them and are not trying to undermine our children and culture. Psychiatrist Rick Fitzgibbons has analyzed the psychological root of it all, powerfully sad, especially when you consider the psychological establishment has abandoned these people.
At the same time, this craziness may provide an opportunity for fighting the homosexual advance. Homosexuals have largely stopped frightening the horses, but their very strange trans cousins may set the nags going again.
Sun-Tsu said the way to victory is to divide your enemy’s coalition. There is often tension between trans people and the homosexual establishment. All this crazy trans talk has to embarrass groups like the Human Rights Campaign. They’re mainstream now, but have long tried to make LGBT a single package. That makes it hard to say, “We’ll keep the Lesbians, Gays and Bi-Sexuals but leave out the crazier Transgendered.” Middle America may at long last wake up and say, wait a minute, “these guys, too? Maybe there was something wrong here from the start.”
And anyway who wants a daughter dating a non-op, non-binary, intersex, trans man? What would you give it for Christmas?
