Sen. Kaine is no theologian
Philip Lawler, Catholic Culture
Wednesday, May 19, 2021
Let us assume, for the sake of the argument, that the threat of climate change deserves to be given equal priority with the assault on innocent human life. To match the extremism of the pro-abortion position, a politician who violates the Church’s teaching on care for the environment would have to call for the deliberate destruction of the ozone layer, accomplished with lavish taxpayer funding, and legal restrictions on the expression of environmentalist opinions. Needless to say, no sane politician, Catholic or not, approaches such absurd stands. But something like that is what Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine is saying in instructing the bishops about religion and politics.
