The pope’s contradictions on Ukraine

The Vatican Secretariat of State breaks out in a collective cold sweat every time Francis speaks freely about the war in Ukraine. Does Ukraine have a right to self defense? Can there be dialogue? Francis still hopes to meet with Putin’s “altar boy,” Patriarch Kirill. Yet Kirill’s boss, Vladimir Putin, won’t take the pope’s calls.
