We seem to be emerging from COVID, but great damage was done, not least the deaths that resulted. But there has been damage to the faith: several surveys have shown that one-third of American Catholics who were coming to Mass at the beginning of March 2020 now no longer regularly attend. This post-pandemic period is a time — calmly, serenely, and wisely — to prepare to do much better the next time civil and health authorities declare a pandemic.
