In his foreword to a new book by Julio Loredo de Izcue and José Antonio Ureta, The Synodal Process Is a Pandora’s Box, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke writes that, “Synodality and its adjective, synodal, have become slogans behind which a revolution is at work to change radically the Church’s self-understanding, in accord with a contemporary ideology which denies much of what the Church has always taught and practiced.” The authors also quote Fr, Gerald E. Murray, who says the synod is an “attempt to convince us that an embrace of heresy and immorality is not sinful but rather a response to the voice of the Holy Spirit.”
