Cardinal Burke and Father Murray on the Synod

At a Tuesday conference in Rome titled, “The Synodal Babel,” Cardinal Raymond L. Burke said the purpose of the synod on synodality was to “profoundly modify the hierarchical constitution” of the Catholic Church and to weaken its teaching on moral issues. Fr. Gerald E. Murray agreed, saying the Synod ignores “the essential distinction between the ordained and non-ordained in the Church. Christ’s establishment of a hierarchical church means that certain roles pertain to the shepherds that do not pertain to the sheep.”
