In a canonically rare step, Pope Francis has removed Joseph Strickland as the Bishop of Tyler, Texas, the Vatican announced Saturday. The Holy See press office gave no reason for the decision. The Tyler diocese has 52 parishes and 14 missions. It had 79 priests in 2020.
