We must not allow the year 2023 to slip away without commemorating the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s encyclical Fides et Ratio (FR), especially in light of Pope Francis’s recent apostolic letter, Ad Theologiam Promovendam (On the promoting of theology). Compared to the long and detailed reflections in FR, the short letter by Francis is merely a stub.
