Catholic women’s college nixes transgender admissions

Saint Mary’s College — a Catholic women’s school in Notre Dame, Indiana — is reversing its controversial transgender admissions policy, which would have allowed men identifying as women to enroll. President Katie Conboy had last month praised the new policy saying, “We believed it affirmed our identity as an inclusive, Catholic, women’s college.” But Bishop Kevin Rhoades insisted the policy was “at odds with Catholic teaching” and urged the school to reverse the decision.
