An Italian theologian and Salesian sister, Linda Pocher, has confirmed that Pope Francis is in favor of admitting to the perennially male diaconate. As reported by the Spanish portal Religion Digital, the pope is “very much in favor of the diaconate for women.” The Vatican is currently studying how a diaconate of women might be put into practice.
