Jihadist attack on African church leaves 15 dead

Fifteen worshippers died and two others were injured at a February 25 Mass when Islamist militants opened fire inside a Catholic church in a rural village, Essakane, in the West African country Burkina Faso. Abbot Jean-Pierre Sawadogo, vicar general of the local diocese, said, “In this painful circumstance, we invite you to pray for those who died in faith, for the healing of the wounded, and for the consolidation of grieving hearts.”
