His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the largest Eastern Catholic Church in communion with the Holy See, is visiting the U.S., in part to thank Americans for supporting Ukraine in the aftermath of the Russian invasion. Shevchuk, who has led the Ukrainian church since 2011, also warned of a “burnt out” feeling that comes with fighting evil, personally and in the context of the war. His initial remarks were made in Philadelphia, ahead of visits to Washington, D.C. and New York City.
