The story is appalling yet comic: The German bishops have announced that Bishop Ludger Schepers “will be the representative for queer pastoral care.” Is that an awkward computer translation? No. The German original is Der Essener Weihbischof Ludger Schepers Beauftragter für Queer-Pastoral wird. Question: Why is an English word being used in the German announcement?
